Garlic contains vitamins C, B6, manganese, selenium and many antioxidants such as allicin. Some recent studies have linked garlic to reduction of blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Garlic is widely used by patients for its blood pressure lowering effects. A meta-analysis published in 2008 concluded that garlic consumption lowers blood pressure in hypertensive and normotensive patients.
